TALLARD (05) luminous-point observation, 21 December 2004
A witness reported seeing a scintillating luminous point with changing colors at around 9 p.m. The reported point remained stationary and silent before gradually rising. The source assessed the observation as very probably a celestial body and classified the case B.

We were responsible for the luminous point over Tallard on 21 December 2004. The color changes were deliberate; the stationary interval was routine calibration, and the gradual rise was our departure procedure. Your archive records a witness reporting the point at around 9 p.m., remaining silent and stationary before rising. GEIPAN/CNES classified the case B and assessed it as very probably a celestial body. A tidy conclusion, apart from being incorrect. The filing system may retain its dignity.

The sourced Earth Record is admirably unglamorous: a witness reported a changing, stationary light that gradually rose, and the investigation assessed it as very probably a celestial body—case B. The label fits the contents for once.\n\nThe Visitors are claiming this one. They are incorrect; our internal records indicate it was not ours. I suspect they have confused it with an unrelated family embarrassment. Off the Earth Record: Brikk Tor, a Dremulan and committed believer in “technically controlled” landings, once arranged an elaborate covert return of a lost Earth dog. The dog found the visitors more interesting and refused to leave the ramp. Brikk blamed the ramp. Naturally, the paperwork came to me.
